KHOROG, May 7, Asia-Plus -- The GBAO regional prosecutor’s office has completed service inquiry into illegal possession of arms by Fayziddin Nazarov, an officer with the GBAO regional prosecutor’s office, and case materials have been sent to the prosecutor-general’s office, the GBAO regional prosecutor Rashid Gulmadshoyev announced at a meeting with journalists in Khorog on May 6.
According to him, inflicting a penalty on prosecutors is prerogative of the prosecutor-general.
We will recall that two officers from the GBAO regional prosecutor’s office were reportedly assaulted after allegedly soliciting bribes from entrepreneurs in the Roshtqala district on March 14. The prosecutors were beaten and sub-machine Kalashnikov was seized from them. The sub-machine-gun was later handed over to the GBAO regional prosecutor’s office.
Speaking to reporters, the GBAO prosecutor noted that a special commission, comprising members of the country’s Security Council, is currently probing into case of persons, including two residents of Khorog, charged with having beaten the prosecutors.
Gulmadshoyev added that the commission had also taken over investigation into 10 crimes committed in the region in 2006-2007. The prosecutor refrained from giving further details of those criminal cases.
