DUSHANBE, July 29, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Minister of Interiors Mahmadnazar Solehov told a press conference in Dushanbe on July 29 that in January-June 2008, 6,333 crimes have been reported in Tajikistan, which is 290 cases or 4.4 percent fewer than in the same period of last year.
Compared to January-June 2007 there has been an 11.5 percent reduction of the number of thefts (1,918 cases have been reported over the first six months of this year against 2,167 cases reported in January-June 2007) and the number of grave crimes reported over the report period has decreased by 2 percent, from 1,380 cases to 1,352 cases, the minister said.
According to him, the number of murders reported in the country over the report period has decreased by 1.5 percent, from 65 to g4, compared to January-June 2007.
Over the same six-month period, the crime detection rate has increased by 2.8 percent and stood for January-June 2008 at 85.6 percent.
