KHUJAND, November 20, 2008, Asia-Plus -- 57-year-old resident of Sughd’s Bobojonghafurov district Abduahad Qurbonov has got long jail term for his uncle.
The Sughd regional court on November 19 ruled that 57-year-old resident of Sughd’s Bobojonghafurov district Abduahad Qurbonov be given a jail term of 24 years and that he should serve it in a high-security penal colony. The sentence followed his conviction on charge of intended killing.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Amirkhon Ishoqov, the deputy head of the Sughd regional court, said that Abduahad Qurbonov was detained on August 12 on suspicion of having killed his 76-year-old uncle. Qurbonov confessed to killing his uncle.
“The old man promised to re-register his house to Qurbonov’s name if he takes care of him,” said Ishoqov, “Qurbonov agreed but later he stopped taking care of his uncle, and therefore the man decided to re-register the house to his grandson’s name.”
