DUSHANBE, March 5, 2009, Asia-Plus -- The CIS expert group met at the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk, Belarus on March 3-4 to discuss establishment of cooperation in combating corruption.
The meeting participants included representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and Tajikistan as well as the councils of the CIS interior ministers and special service chiefs, the coordination council of the CIS tax (financial) agency heads and the council of the CIS border service chiefs.
According to press service of the CIS Executive Committee, they coordinated a draft agreement on cooperation in countering cooperation. The draft agreement has been worked out to promote fulfillment of the plan of main actions for implementation of the further CIS development concept and interstate program of joint crime prevention measures for 2008-2010, the press service said.
The CIS member nations are expected to provide legal assistance each other with investigating into corruption-related criminal and civil cases, conduct joint measures, cooperate in seeking and recovering corruption-related assets, exchange information and standard documents, develop appropriate programs, and organize training of personnel.
The nest meeting of the expert group is expected to be held in the second half of May this year.
