KHUJAND, June 26, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Draftee from Sughd’s Istaravshan district Erkin Sanginov has got a jail term of one year for evading the military service.
The Khujand military court on June 24 ruled that Erkin Sanginov be given a jail term of one year and that he should serve in a minimum-security penal colony. The sentence followed his conviction on the charge of evading the military service.

He served in the National Guard’s subunit deployed in Dushanbe. “After serving six months, Sanginov got a one-day leave in order to go home,” said the source, “However, Sanginov has not returned to the subunit after that. He was detained in May this year.”
According to the source, it was the third trial concerning military service evasion in the province this month.
