KHUJAND, September 12, 2009, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Sughd counternarcotics directorate has been detained on suspicion of having been involved in corruption.
According to the Sughd police directorate, an officer from the Sughd counternarcotics directorate was arrested on September 10 on suspicion of having taken bribery. “He was caught red-handed last Thursday when he was taking 2,500 U.S. dollars in bribe,” the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of Article 319 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – bribery, and an investigation is under way.
