KHUJAND, July 20, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Sughd police directorate have seized some 295 kilograms of narcotics over the first six months of this year, which is 181 kilograms more than in the same period last year, Nasim Olimov, a spokesman for the drug control division (drug police) of the Sughd police directorate, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
A totaled included more than 12 kilograms of heroin, 891 grams of raw opium, more than 268 kilograms of hashish and more than 12 kilograms of other types of narcotics.
According to Olimov, all the Sughd law enforcement agencies have seized 359 kilograms of narcotics, with more than 34 kilograms of them being heroin, over the same six-month period.
