Former deputy of the Sughd Regional Majlis Nizomhon Juraev, who was arrested and detained at Tajik State Security Committee’s detention facility, was released, Ozodi radio reported quoting Head of Tajik Finance Control and Counter-Corruption Agency Fattoh Saidov as saying.
Saidov noted that Juraev was released for the period of investigation which is led by the Agency and Tajik Ministry of Interior. The deputy confirmed his release in a telephone conversation with BBC.
For security reasons ex-deputy refused to talk about his current location but said that he is in Dushanbe and meets with security officers on daily basis.
He stressed that ahead of his return to Tajikistan he contacted with security structures and they guaranteed him safety. “I returned back independently and nobody forced me to do that and this is true,” he said.
