KHUJAND, October 3, 2012, Asia-Plus -- The Sughd prosecutor’s office has instituted administrative proceedings against Ms. Mohira Vohidova, editor-in-chief, TV station Jahonoro in the Ghafurov Township, Bobojonghafurov district.
Ms. Muhabbat Jourayeva, a lawyer with the Khujand-based Media Legal Aid Center, says the administrative proceedings have been instituted against Mohira Vohidova over the report about a fire at the Korvon marketplace in Dushanbe.
“The TV station has aired the report about the market place that was posted on the TojNews website,” said Jourayeva. “Proceedings have been instituted under the provisions of Article 373 of Tajikistan’s Administrative Code – spread of media product as well as reports and materials of news agencies without registration. Meanwhile, this media is officially registered and information about the fire was given from source – TojNews, and according to Article 36 of the RT Law “On TV and Radio-broadcasting,” the media mentioning the source of information is not answerable for this information.”
Jourayeva added that she would represent the Jahonoro editor-in-chief in trial.
