DUSHANBE, October 23, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- The prosecutor’s office has reportedly appealed against too mild sentence passed by a court in the Vahdat Township on ex-head of the Vahdat penal colony and the doctor from that penal colony.

A source at the Supreme Court says the Vahdat court ruled that Davlat Rahimov, ex-head of the penal colony in Vahdat, be fined 26,000 somoni and the doctor from the Vahdat penal colony be given two-year suspended sentence.  The sentence followed their conviction on the charge of negligence of duties leading to the death of prisoner.

“The 26-year-old prisoner Ajik Qayumov committed suicide on June 26 this year,” the source said.

Meanwhile, a source at the Vahdat court says the prosecutor’s office has appealed against the sentence passed by the Vahdat court on the ex-head of the Vahdat penal colony and the doctor from that penal colony demanding more rigid punishment for them.  The source refrained from giving further comments, noting that the sentence has not yet taken effect.

According to the country’s penitentiary system, penal colony YaS 3/2 in Vahdat is now headed by Idiboy Muhtojev.
