The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) has decided to pay compensation to the soldier who was seriously injured in hazing incident.

“After repeated applications, the SCNS on December 18 asked the injured party to provide details of a bank account for transfer of compensation to Shahbol Mirzoyev,” lawyer Gulchehra Kholmatova, who has represented Mirzoyev’s family, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

As it had been reported earlier, the Dushanbe military court on November 22, 2016 ordered the Main Border Guard Directorate at the State Committee for National Security to pay 40,000 somoni to Shabol Mirzoyev for moral and material damages.  36,000 somoni should be paid for material damages and 4,000 somoni should be paid for moral damages.

Recall, Shahbol Mirzoyev suffered severe spinal injuries and became paralyzed as the result of bullying in March 2014.

The Dushanbe military court sentenced a military doctor Usmonali Ghairatov to nine years in jail for seriously damaging Mirzoyev’s health on June 19, 2014.  Ghairatov was found guilty of hazing, inflicting bodily harm, and leaving a serviceman in danger.

The court also ruled that Ghairatov must pay 8,000 somoni to Shahbol Mirzoyev''s relatives to compensate for moral damages, and 5,700 somoni to cover Mirzoyev''s treatment in hospital.

Meanwhile, Shahbol Mirzoyev’s relatives, who had to sell a house and a car to pay for the medical treatment of Shahbol, in November 2014 demanded 241,000 somoni from the Main Border Guard Directorate in compensation for moral and material damages.  They demanded 97,000 somoni in moral damages and 144,000 somoni in material damages.
