Two police officers from the city of Tursunzoda have been detained on suspicion of bribery.
According to the anticorruption agency’s press center, two officers of the Interior Ministry’s office in Tursunzoda – Major Qamariddin Orifzoda and Captain Akbar Jonboboyev – have demanded 8,000 somoni from local resident A. for dropping criminal proceedings instituted against his brother.
They were reportedly caught rend-handed while taking money from A.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Orifzoda and Jonboboyev under the provisions of Article 319 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – bribery; an investigation is under way.
