A group specialists led Zarif Alizoda, Adviser to the President for Legal issues, has prepared a draft new Penal Code of Tajikistan and it is currently is under consideration by the government, Tajik chief prosecutor told reporters in Dushanbe on February 2. 

While developing the new Penal Code, the specialists reportedly took into consideration opinions of international organizations, civil society, researchers and lawyers.   

According to the Tajik chief prosecutor, the new Penal Code is aimed at criminal policy humanization.

Thus, the new Penal Code, in particular, provides for mitigating punishment  for the committed crimes for women, people with disabilities and old people.

At the same time, the new Penal Code reportedly toughens punishments for terrorism, grave and especially grave crimes.
