Dushanbe police detained 39-year-old Mukhammadsharif Juraev, suspected of setting fire to funds of the Omega Foods company in the amount of about 2.5 million somoni: he burned them in his own car. The story about this was shown in a special program of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "MIA news”.

According to the data, Juraev, being an employee of the company, was assigned to transfer 3.5 million somoni to the bank. However, according to the preliminary version of the investigation, part of this money – about a million somoni, he spent for personal purposes.

The event took place on August 1 on Negmat Karabayev Street in Dushanbe.

The police notes that the purpose of the arson was to create false visibility: as if all the money - 3.5 million somoni, were destroyed during a fire that occurred for technical reasons.

During the investigation, Muhammadsharif Juraev admitted his guilt.

A criminal case has been initiated against him under article 255, part 2 of the Criminal Code of the country (intentional destruction of property).

If found guilty, he faces a large fine or imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
