On August 18, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia announced the arrest of a Tajik citizen in Moscow who had been wanted since 2012.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Komron Safaraliev was detained in the capital region as a result of an operation by the National Central Bureau of Interpol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia together with colleagues from the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reports that in Tajikistan Safaraliev is accused of illegal drug trafficking on a particularly large scale.
"According to the Tajik side, operational search activities were carried out in Khatlon region in July 2012. When law enforcement officers tried to inspect the car driven by the defendant, Safaraliev managed to leave and escape. Subsequently, his car was found, marijuana weighing more than 61 kg was hidden inside it," the press center said.
At the moment, the issue of the detainee's extradition to Tajikistan is being resolved.
