The Prosecutor General's Office of Tajikistan, refuting earlier information from some media that Akbar Akhmadov, one of the suspects in the murder of the former chairman of “Orienbank”, Shukhrat Ismatulloev, died in jail, published a video message confirming this on his YouTube channel.

In a video posted on September 6, a man who introduced himself as Akbar Akhmadov (Akhmedov) declares that he is in custody in a pre-trial detention center and feels fine.

Meanwhile, in another video, also posted on YouTube on the same day, a woman who appears to be Akbar Akhmadov's mother expressed concern about reports of her son's death.

It is important to note that it is currently impossible to independently confirm the authenticity and date of creation of this video

Earlier, on September 3, Radio “Ozodi” reported, citing its sources, that Akbar Akhmadov returned to his homeland after the arrest of his mother by Tajik authorities, surrendered to them, after which he was subjected to brutal interrogations, which led to his death.

On September 5, the Prosecutor General's Office of Tajikistan officially denied reports of Akbar Akhmadov's death and confirmed that he was in custody.

Akbar Akhmedov is one of the suspects in the abduction and murder of Shukhrat Ismatulloev, who, according to the Tajik authorities, was a member of an organized criminal group.

Shukhrat Ismatulloev was abducted on the evening of June 23 by a criminal group created by Dilshod Saidmurodov. He was taken to the village of Shedok-1 in Varzob and tortured with a stun gun, autogen and other means, as a result of which Ismatulloev died. After that, in order to conceal the crime, the body of the murdered man and the car were thrown into the Zarafshan River at the 130th kilometer of Dushanbe-Chanak highway.

His body was discovered almost 1.5 months later.
