DUSHANBE, April 14, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Chairman of Tajikistan’s Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs Maliksho Nematov yesterday left for Baku, Azerbaijan, where he will chair a meeting of the CIS Council for Physical Training and Sports Affairs that is opening in the Azeri capital today, press service of Tajik Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs reports.
On April 16, Nematov will leave Baku for Yerevan, where he will chair a meeting of the CIS Council for Youth Affairs.
We will recall that Tajikistan assumed the rotating CIS chairmanship and Dushanbe will host the next annual CIS summit in September this year.
The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is a regional organization whose participating countries are former Soviet Republics, formed during the breakup of the Soviet Union. It now consists of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. Georgia pulled out of the organization in 2009.
