DUSHANBE, June 6, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Tajik parliamentary delegation, led by the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Chairman Shukurjon Zuhurov, today morning departed for South Korea on the first official visit.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says the delegation visits Seoul on invitation of Park Hee-tae, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
According to him, Shukurjon Zuhurov is scheduled to hold talks with Korean Parliament Speaker Park Hee-tae, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Kim Sung-Hwan and Minister of Labor Lee Chae-pil.
Tomorrow, the delegation members are scheduled to meet with Tajik students studying at universities in South Korea and visit GM Korea Company (former GM Daewoo Auto and Technology Company or GM DAT), which is member and part of the General Motors Company. GM Korea Company is the third largest South-Korean automobile manufacturer. Tajik MPs will also visit Korean Waste Management Company and Korean National Institute for Manufacturing Sciences, the spokesman said.
The National Assembly of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) (Gukhoe in Korean language) is a 299-member unicameral legislature. The latest general elections were held on April 9, 2008. Single-member constituencies comprise 245 of the National Assembly''s seats, while the remaining 54 are allocated by proportional representation. Members serve four-year terms.
