DUSHANBE, July 13, 2011, Asia-Plus -- On Tuesday July 12, Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi met here with Mr. Stephen Nellen, Swiss Ambassador to Tajikistan (with residence in Astana, Kazakhstan), and Mr. Peter Mikula, Country Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan, the Tajik MFA information department reports.
The sides discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Switzerland. They, in particular, made special mention of a high level of cooperation between the two nations and a firm legal foundation of cooperation between them.
In the course of the talks, Hamrokhon Zarifi reportedly pointed to the necessity of continuing cooperation over the Lake Sarez problems. Tajik minister also appreciated Switzerland’s support for the process of Tajikistan’s admission to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and expressed confidence in further continuation of cooperation on this issue, the source said.
Zarifi also informed Swiss diplomats of the forthcoming important political events scheduled for September and preparations for celebration of the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence.
