Dushanbe. December 7, 2011, Asia-Plus - The meeting of foreign ministers of Tajikistan and Estonia - Hamrokhon Zarifi and Urmas Paet took place on December 6 in the framework of the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Vilnius.
According to the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RT, during the meeting the sides discussed state and prospects of the Tajik-Estonian cooperation in important areas of mutually beneficial.
Urmas Paet expressed his gratitude to the Tajik side for assistance in the liberation of the Estonian pilot Alexei Rudenko. It was especially emphasized the resolution of the problem solely on the basis of diplomatic, said the Foreign Ministry. However, the Estonian diplomat voiced his country''s request to open a diplomatic mission in Tajikistan and the appointment of Ambassador to Estonia, the Republic of Tatarstan, which would further strengthen relations between the two countries.
The Ministers also discussed a wide range of issues, both bilateral and multilateral character. Particular attention was paid to developing trade and economic relations between the two countries and cooperation within international organizations. The Estonian side expressed its readiness to support Tajikistan''s efforts to join the WTO.
Estonian Foreign Minister also drew attention to his companion on the possibility of training young Tajik diplomats at the Diplomatic Academy of Estonia. At the end of the conversation H. Zarifi invited his counterpart to attend the Conference RECCA-V, to be held in Dushanbe on 26-27 March 2012, as well as the celebration of Navruz in 2012.
