DUSHANBE, December 15, 2011, Asia-plus -- Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met with the President of Germany Christian Wilhelm Wulff in Berlin Wednesday afternoon, the Tajik presidential press service reports.
In the course of the talks, Rahmon and Wulff reportedly discussed a broad range of issues related to political, economic as well as scientific and technical cooperation between Tajikistan and Germany.
President Rahmon noted that Germany was an old and reliable partner of Tajikistan and expressed satisfaction with the current level of fruitful cooperation between the two countries both in bilateral format and within international organizations.
The current situation in Afghanistan and joint efforts to normalize the situation in that country were also among major topics of the meeting.
Christian Wilhelm Wulff noted that Germany was ready to participate in the 5th Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA V) that would take place in Dushanbe in March 2012.
“Germany will support Tajikistan’s admission to the World Trade Organization,” President Wulff added, according to the presidential press service.
