DUSHANBE, July 2, 2012, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon and his son Rustam Emomali, who heads the Tajikistan National Football Federation (TNFF), reportedly attended the final match of the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship that took place in Kyiv, Ukraine on July 1.
TNFF’s website reports that the NFF president Rustam Emomali attended the final match of Euro 2012 on invitation of the UEFA (the Union of European Football Associations) president Michel Platini.
The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2012, was the 14th European Championship for national football teams organized by UEFA. The final tournament was hosted by Poland and Ukraine between June 8 and July 1, 2012. It was the first time that either nation hosted the tournament. This bid was chosen by UEFA''s Executive Committee in 2007. Euro 2012 set the record for both the highest aggregate attendance (1,440,896) and the highest average attendance per game (46,481) under the 16-team format (since 1996).
Meanwhile, the Tajik president’s website reports that President Emomali Rahmon is currently on his working visit to Ukraine.
Erkin Rahmatulloyev, State Adviser to the President for the Foreign Policy, Abdujabbor Azizov, State Adviser to the President for the Personnel Policy, Maliksho Nematov, Chairman of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs, and Shuhrat Sultonov, Tajik Ambassador to Ukraine, are reportedly accompanying President Rahmon on his visit to Ukraine.
Today, President Emomali Rahmon is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovych.
