DUSHANBE, April 29, 2013, Asia-Plus -- In connection with a complicated situation regarding arrival and departure of Tajik nationals that has emerged in the Russian Federation, Tajik Ambassador to Tajikistan, Abdulamajid Dostiyev, has ordered to set up a special commission to render assistance to Tajik nationals arriving in and leaving Russia.

The commission reportedly aims to help solve problems facing Tajik nationals at Moscow airports and the Kazansky railway station.  The commission will have its representatives at the Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports and at the Kazansky railway station.

“Ambassador Dostiyev notes that setting up such a commission, unfortunately, has become necessary and topical because not only yellow press but also some Russian national TV channels have begun creating an atmosphere of enmity and intolerance against migrants from Tajikistan,” a statement released by the Tajik Embassy says.

“Some Russian short-sighted politicians venture insulting remarks against Tajikistan, using offensive words.  And the Russia side reassures us that remarks made Zhirinovsky during the talk-show were made in an emotional form so characteristic of him and that there ought not to pay attention to that.  We, however, think that such unhealthy politicians should be a problem for their own country but not for other countries.  We do not want to be an object of talk-shows of any showmen,” Ambassador Dostiyev said.

We will recall that during the talk-show Poyedinok (The Duel), Zhirinovsky on April 18 questioned Tajik authorities’ insistence on Russia paying higher rent for use of its military base in Tajikistan.

“The Tajik Communists are again inflating the price for our base in Tajikistan.  The arrogance!” Zhirinovsky said.

“They know Russia has money, ‘pay more.’ We should tell them ‘we will stop taking take your workers that come here for jobs,” said he.  “What will the head of the republic Rahmon do then? He knows well that it would be the end for him,” Zhirinovsky said.

“And maybe Afghan Islamists would trample on Tajikistan and they would hang him in the center of Dushanbe, like they did Najibullah,” Zhirinovsky warned.

Tajikistan sent the protest note to Russia on April 23 and deputies in the Tajik parliament also denounced Zhirinovksy’s comments during an April 24 sitting of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament).
