Dushanbe and Tashkent have proceeded to solving water-and-energy issues.
Uzbek Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Kamilov, yesterday received Tajik First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Sulton Rahimzod.
According to the official website of Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry, the two exchanged views on relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the context of issues related to rational use of water-and-energy resources in the Central Asian region.
Recall, during a meeting between Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Acting President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev that took place in Dushanbe on September 29, mutual travels of citizens of the two countries, water-and-energy and transportation sectors were outlined as areas required an active constructive interaction.
During an October 5 telephone conversation, Rahmon and Mirziyoyev confirmed their readiness for continuation of an open and wide dialogue. They also expressed confidence that proposals and agreements that had been supported in the course of the last Tajik-Uzbek contacts would promote expansion of close cooperation between the two countries for the welfare of their peoples and providing peace and stability in the region.
