Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will pay a state visit to India from December 14-18, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
During the visit, Rahmon is scheduled to hold talks with President Shri Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The two sides are expected to discuss issues related to expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, tourism, defense, and security, a source in the Tajik government told Asia-Plus in an interview.
The visit is expected to result in signing of a number of cooperation documents.
The legal foundation of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and India now includes 60 government-to-government and interagency cooperation agreements.
A joint Tajikistan-India intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation functions.
Meanwhile, The GenX Times (India) reports this will be the 6th visit of President Rahmon to India. Amid his last visit to India in 2012, the two nations reportedly raised their bilateral relations for a long-term partnership.
President Emomali Rahmon will be first visiting Kerala after that he will be arriving in New Delhi on December 16t.
His official engagements would start in New Delhi on December 17, 2016.
