The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, at a meeting with the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda on September 29, made a number of proposals to strengthen bilateral cooperation, a source in the government of Tajikistan said.
In particular, Aripov said about the need in the near future to increase the trade turnover between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to $ 1 billion.
«Bilateral trade does not match the potential of our countries, - said Aripov. - In the coming years, we need to increase bilateral trade to $ 1 billion. We have all the possibilities for this. Because there are huge untapped reserves».
He noted that this year, due to coronavirus infection, trade between Uzbekistan and other Central Asian states has decreased, but with Tajikistan increased by 4.3% and amounted to $ 317 million.
According to the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, “the time has come to strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, science and medicine”.
