Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today received the Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan (HCNR), Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the two sides discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan. 

Tajik leader reportedly noted that Tajikistan supports peace efforts of Afghanistan and welcomes the process of inter-Afghan peace talks.

Rahmon expressed hope the peace talks will yield positive results not only for Afghanistan but for all countries of the region.  

Rahmon and Abdullah also discussed activities of various terrorist groups that pose threat to stability in Afghanistan and other countries of the region and agreed to intensify the joint fight against this negative phenomenon, the Tajik president’s official website says.  

They reportedly also outlined sectors like transportation, trade, medicine, science, culture and education as areas, which could drive the bilateral cooperation between the two countries. 

Recall, the Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan (HCNR), Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, heading a high-ranking government delegation arrived in Dushanbe yesterday on a two-day visit.
