The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Khusrav Noziri, met here on July 12 with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mirwais Nab, who is on a working visit to Tajikistan, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
During the meeting, the two reportedly discussed bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Afghanistan in various fields with an emphasis on the recent developments in Afghanistan, as well as preparations for the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan to Tajikistan and his participation in the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization-Afghanistan Contact Group, which will be held in Dushanbe tomorrow.
Born in Kabul in 1978, Mirwais Nab has worked as a career diplomat for two decades before being appointed as the Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs in 2020, according to the Afghan MFA. Previously, he had served as the Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Cooperation.
Mr. Nab started his diplomatic career in 1999 as the Assistant Military Attaché at the Afghanistan’s Embassy in Dushanbe. Subsequently, he became in charge for Deputy Military Attaché of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Beijing, First Secretary of Afghanistan’s Embassy in Beijing, Deputy Director General for First Political Directorate and Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Washington. Later, he was appointed as the Advisor on the International Affairs of the National Security Council of Afghanistan. In the course of his career, between 2014-2019, Mr. Nab served as the Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan.
