The Tajik president’s official website reports that after the highest level meeting and negotiations of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, a signing ceremony of new cooperation documents was held on May 10 in the presence and with the participation of the heads of both states, Emomali Rahmon and Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Emomali Rahmon and Serdar Berdimuhamedov reportedly signed the Declaration on deepening the strategic partnership between their countries.
Then, twenty-three other cooperation documents were signed in the presence of Rahmon and Berdimuhamedov:
- A government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of health;
- A government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of ensuring international cyber security;
- A government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of technical information protection;
- A protocol between the Foreign Ministries of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on mutual cooperation within international organizations;
- A government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of plant quarantine;
- A government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of veterinary;
- A “roadmap” for expanding cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan and the Ministry for Agriculture and environmental Protection of Turkmenistan in the field of agriculture for 2023-2025;
- A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Department of Financial Monitoring under the National Bank of Tajikistan and the Financial Monitoring Service under the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of combating the legalization of proceeds of crime, financing terrorism and financing the distribution of weapons of mass destruction;
- A MoU on cooperation between the National Bank of Tajikistan and the Central Bank of Turkmenistan;
- An agreement between the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan and the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan on the organization of exchange of advance information on goods and means of transport proceeding through the customs border;
- An agreement between the local authorities of Tajikistan’s Khatlon Province and Turkmenistan’s Mary Region of Turkmenistan;
- An agreement between the local authorities of Tajikistan’s Sughd Province and Turkmenistan’s Balkan region on cooperation in commercial-economic, scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian areas;
- A program of joint activities (“roadmap”) on the expansion of further cooperation in the field of increasing cargo flow and activation of multimodal transportation between the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan and the Transport and Communication Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for 2023-2025;
- A MoU on cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Industry and Construction Production of Turkmenistan;
- A MoU on commercial cooperation between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan;
- A MoU between the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of labor and employment;
- A MoU between the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan and the "Turkmenavtoulaglary" Agency of the Transport and Communication Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on the development of international transport;
- A MoU on cooperation between the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan’s State Committee on Statistics;
- A MoU between the Service for State Safety Supervision in Industry and Mining under the Government of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan’s Main State Service "Turkmenstandartlary";
- A MoU on cooperation between the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan and the Scientific Center for Strategic Research of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan;
- A MoU on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan;
- A MoU on cooperation between Tajikistan’s state-run news agency Khovar and Turkmenistan’s state-run news agency TDH State Information Agency of Turkmenistan TDH;
- A MoU on cooperation between the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Tajikistan and the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan.
After the documents signing ceremony, Emomali Rahmon and Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a press conference for a wide range of journalists on the high-level meeting and negotiations between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, during which they highly commended their outcomes.
