Tajik President today met here with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who arrived in the Tajik capital for participation in participate in the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and in a regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS).
The Tajik president’s official website says Rahmon and Mirziyoyev discussed topical aspects of cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in the framework of strategic partnership and alliance.
During the meeting, Tajik leader reportedly emphasized with satisfaction the high dynamics of relations between the two countries at all levels and in all directions and expressed confidence that that the results of the upcoming high-level events will effectively contribute to further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The parties, in particular, discussed trade and economic cooperation as well as humanitarian and cultural ties between their countries.
The leaders of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan also exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest, the Tajik president’s official website noted.
