Speaking at a joint meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Tajikistan in Dushanbe, Iranian President Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi said yesterday that good steps have been taken over the past two years to help enhance cooperation in political, economic and cultural areas.
At the same time, he noted that there is still a long way to go in bilateral relations, according to IRNA.
On the bilateral trade between the two countries, Iranian president reportedly said that an initial target for reaching a US$500 million trade with Tajikistan is possible.
IRNA notes that the president of Tajikistan, in the meantime, underlined the need for more enhanced ties between Tehran and Dushanbe, particularly in the fields of mining, health, agriculture, techno-industrial companies, hydroelectric power plants, exploration and excavation of oil and gas resources, and cultural and techno-scientific cooperation.
