On Friday October 4, the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, received the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Marat Khusnullin, who is Co-chairman of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Russia for Trade and Economic Cooperation.
The Tajik president’s official website says the parties discussed prospects of further expansion of multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia.
Much attention was reportedly paid to the expansion of relations between the two countries in the fields of trade, industry, energy, finance, banking and investment.
In order to achieve the goals defined in these directions, it was considered necessary to increase the effectiveness of the activity of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.
The attraction of Russian capital to the economy of Tajikistan was interpreted as beneficial for both countries in terms of implementation of joint projects, including in the sectors of industrial cooperation and the establishment of industrial parks, the Tajik president’s official website notes.
During the meeting, Rahmon and Khusnullin reportedly also exchanged views on other important issues related to the relations between Tajikistan and the Russia Federation.
