Citing Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Semyon Grigoryev, TASS reported on November 23 that Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited Tajikistan's leader, Emomali Rahmon, to participate in events on May 9, 2025, on Red Square in honor of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

"We conveyed to the esteemed President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to take part in the events on Red Square on May 9," the diplomat was quoted as saying.

He reportedly emphasized that next year, Tajikistan will assume the rotating CIS chairmanship next year.

The Russian ambassador believes that the theme of the 80th anniversary of Victory will also be discussed at a high level, according to TASS.

Last year, Emomali Rahmon participated in ceremonial events dedicated to Victory Day celebrations.  At that time, the working visit of the President of Tajikistan to Russia also took place at Putin’s invitation.

Earlier, Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov reportedly stated that discussions on the topic of migrants do not affect the relationship between Putin and Rahmon.

"The relationship between the leaders is friendly and warm. They know each other, communicate, and wish to continue doing so," he said in response to a question about whether tensions arise due to the issue of migrants, TASS reported on October 8.
