DUSHANBE, September 12, Asia-Plus - President Emomali Rahmonov has ordered not to sending schoolchildren to cotton plantations.  

A working meeting of the country’s government presided over by President Rahmonov was held on September 12. 

According to presidential press service, Rahmonov telling the meeting noted that the main factor for speeding up the cotton-picking campaign is timely payment of wages to cotton farmers.  The president demanded at the meeting that no senior pupils at secondary schools should be sent to cotton, according to presidential press service.      

The meeting also discussed a progress of the implementation projects, including the construction of hydropower plants Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 as well as the commencement of the construction power-transmission line “South-North”.   Participants at the meeting also considered issues related to making adequate preparations for the winter season and holding a meeting of heads of government from the member nations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which is scheduled to be held in Dushanbe within the next few days.  

Prime Minster Oqil Oqilov and other high-ranking Tajik state officials reported on these issues.  

During the meeting it was noted that work on the mentioned projects is in the full swing.  Rahmonov ordered to speed up the work on the construction of roads and tunnels, hydropower facilities, new textiles enterprises and five-star hotels in Dushanbe, and on working out projects for the construction of the national museum  and library, as well as republican lyceum for gifted pupils.
