DUSHANBE, November 8, Asia-Plus -- Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday sent a telegram of condolences to his Afghan counterpart, President Hamid Karzai, over tragic death of people in Afghanistan’s Baghlan province, presidential press service said.
In his message, President Rahmon, in particular, said that Tajik people expresses condolences and sympathy to the government and victims’ families affected by terrorist attack that killed at least 50 people in Baghlan. The Tajik head of state pointed to the necessity of combing efforts to fight terrorism.
We will recall that a suicide attack on a parliamentary delegation killed at least 50 people in northern Afghanistan on Tuesday. Five members of the Afghan parliament were among the dead and a deputy agriculture minister and prominent woman parliamentarian Shukria Barakzai were among the wounded. Schoolchildren were also among the victims in the city of Baghlan.
