DUSHANBE, January 2, Asia-Plus  -- At the end of last December, Tajik President had telephone conversations with presidents of Armenia (Robert Kocharyan), Azerbaijan (Ilham Aliyev), Moldova (Vladimir Voronin) and the Russian Federation (Vladimir Putin), presidential press service said.      

During the conversations, President Rahmon congratulated his counterparts on the New Year and wished wellbeing and happiness to the peoples of friendly countries.  

The telephone conversation of Emomali Rahmon with Vladimir Putin focused on state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia.     

The two, in particularly, noted with satisfaction that the past year showed again rock-firm traditions of friendship and mutually advantageous cooperation, strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries. 

Both sides vowed to boost further development of Tajik-Russian partnership on the principles of mutual trust and respect.   Rahmon and Putin also discussed a progress of implementation of joint projects aimed at enhancement of Tajikistan’s energy and construction of infrastructure in Tajikistan, presidential press service said.  

The presidents expressed interest in progressive development of bilateral cooperation in all spheres and outlined specific measures to strengthen strategic partnership between the two countries on the principles of mutual trust and respect, which fully reflects the desire of the two peoples.

Rahmon and Putin also discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia within the CIS and other regional and international organizations.  

Similar issues were also discussed in Rahmon’s telephone conversations with presidents of Armenia (Robert Kocharyan), Azerbaijan (Ilham Aliyev), Moldova (Vladimir Voronin).  

President Emomali Rahmon sent New Year greetings to other foreign chiefs of state as well.
