DUSHANBE, November 26, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) have endorsed a bill requiring adoption of a new administrative code of Tajikistan.
A regular sitting of the fifth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the third convocation, presided over by its chairman, Saydullo Khairulloyev, was held on November 26.
Presenting the new administrative code, Tojiddin Tourayev, the member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee for Constitution, Legislation and Human Rights, noted that the administrative code currently in force was adopted in December 1995 already and its parameters had gone out of date.
In the meantime, MP Muhiddin Kabiri noted that some articles of the new administrative code were illogical. “Thus, for driving while drunk or without driving license the new administrative code provides for penalty of 350 to 700 somoni but in my opinion, such acts should be considered as criminal violations,” Kabiri said.
The majority of deputies of deputy voted for adoption of the new administrative code worked out by the government.
