DUSHANBE, February 19, 2009, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon yesterday met with visiting Iran’s television and radio network head Mr. Ezatollah Zarghami, according to presidential press service.
The sides discussed issues related to cooperation between TV and radio networks of the countries.
During the meeting, Ezatollah Zarghami expressed gratitude to Tajik president for support he expressed for some aspects of Iranian policy during a meeting with representatives of the European Parliament in Brussels, the press service said.
The sides agreed that relevant bodies of the two countries should expand bilateral cooperation in creating joint radio and TV programs, training personnel. Rahmon and Zarghami also discussed issues related to the creation of a Tajik-Afghan-Iranian television network.
According to some media, Iran and Tajikistan are discussing the creation of a Tajik-Afghan-Iranian TV network with Iran providing the equipment, Afghanistan providing the air time, and Tajikistan providing the studios.
Chairman of Iran’s state television and radio network, heading Iranian delegation, arrived in Dushanbe Tuesday evening for a four-day visit. The purpose of the visit is for senior representatives of the Iranian state television and radio network to discus with Tajik officials ways to strengthen the two countries’ partnership in the field of TV and radio-broadcasting. The visit of the delegation of Iran’s state TV and radio network to Tajikistan will last till Saturday.
