DUSHANBE, December 11, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Deputies of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament have endorsed the bill requiring amendments to the country’s Penal Code.

A regular sitting of the fifth session of Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on December 11.

Presenting the bill, MP Tourakhon Samadov, in particular, noted that the proposed amendments concern the issue of confiscation of property.

“The amendments provide for confiscation of property of persons involved in hijacking aircraft, sea and river craft, and trains, as well as bribery, extortion, illegal border crossing, and attacks on missions of foreign states and international organizations,” Samadov said.

The amendments proposed to Tajikistan’s Penal Code were approved by the majority of votes.
