DUSHANBE, October 1, 2015, Asia-Plus -- Deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) today unanimously voted for ratification of an agreement between Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the road maintenance development project.
Speaking at the session, Tajik Minister of Transport Sherali Ganjalzoda noted that the Bank would provide a $2.54 million grant for the acquisition of road maintenance equipment.
“More than 80 percent of our Soviet-era road maintenance machines have outlived their service life,” the minister said, noted that they purchased about 100 road maintenance machines at the beginning of this year due to a $2.57 million loan provided by the EBRD.
According to him, the grant will be used for the acquisition of 71 other road maintenance machines and one mobile tech lab.
