DUSHANBE, June 17, 2016, Asia-Plus – Deputies of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament have unanimously voted for endorsement of a new Tajikistan’s draft labor code in new edition.
A regular sitting of the second session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fifth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, took place on June 17.
Presenting a new draft labor code, Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population, Ms. Sumangul Taghoyzoda, noted that the labor code defines overall state policy in the sphere of labor relations, provides state safeguards of citizens'' labor rights, and is intended to protect the legal interests of workers, employers and the State.
According to her, the labor code in new edition determines the procedure of regulation of labor relations of private entrepreneurs, individuals working at home, telecommuters, parliamentarians, employees of the country’s diplomatic corps, employees of power-wielding and law enforcement structures, etc.
Under the terms of the new labor code, labor contracts concluded with teenagers without consent of their parents are considered invalid.
Besides, employees engaged in unhealthy trades will be provided with working cloths, hygiene products, milk and dieting meals free of charge at the expanse of an employer.
The new labor code obligates all employers in Tajikistan, irrespective of their forms of property, to pay wages no less than twice a month.
