Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday congratulated Mr. Vo Van Thuong on the occasion of his elected as President of the of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, according to Tajik president’s official website.  

Tajik leader, in particular, noted in his message of congratulations that Tajikistan and Vietnam are linked by the long-standing traditions of friendship and relations of mutually beneficial cooperation.

“We are optimistic of the prospects of the Tajik-Vietnamese relations and are always interested in their development and strengthening in all areas, which are of mutual interest,” Emomali Rahmon said, expressing hope that the interstate cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop and get enriched with new content through joint efforts.

Vietnam's National Assembly on March 2 elected Vo Van Thuong as the country's new president, in a reshuffle of the country's top leadership amid a sweeping anti-graft campaign.

Vo Van Thuong (born December 13, 1970) is a Vietnamese politician serving as the President of Vietnam since 2023, being the youngest person to serve in this position since the republic's founding in 1945.  As the country's head of state, Thuong is the second highest official in Vietnam after the General Secretary of the Communist Party.
