On December 5, President Emomali Rahmon and Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali visited the reconstruction site of Ismoil Somoni Avenue and the road bridge over the Dushanbinka River.

The Tajik president’s official website says the reconstruction of the avenue began in 2020.  Special attention was given to the repair and modernization of the road bridge, which was built during the Soviet era.  The bridge needed restoration, and as part of the reconstruction, concrete supports were built on both sides, and reinforced concrete grids were installed to meet global architectural standards.

"The metal structures of the bridge are decorated with high-quality materials, which contribute to their durability.  Landscaping and beautification work has been done around the bridge: shady trees, flowers, and shrubs have been planted, significantly improving the appearance and environmental conditions in the area.  Additionally, lighting has been installed along the section from Ismoil Somoni Avenue to the intersection with Sino Avenue, covering a distance of 3 kilometers, with the use of energy-saving equipment," the website says.

During the improvement works, over 470 meters of modern metal fencing were installed, and pedestrian walkways were upgraded, significantly enhancing road safety.

The project for the reconstruction and beautification of the bridge and Ismoil Somoni Avenue involved 100 domestic and foreign specialists.

Emomali Rahmon highly praised the style and quality of the work, emphasizing the importance of intensifying city beautification efforts ahead of Tajikistan's 35th anniversary of independence.

Over the past 7 years, six bridges, two three-level interchanges, and over 160 kilometers of roads have reportedly been completed in Dushanbe.  According to the city’s municipal redevelopment plan, the construction of nine more two-level roads is planned, which will help normalize traffic and reduce the load on the capital’s roads.
