In the latest Global Economic Forum ranking on road quality, Tajikistan ranked 44th among 165 countries worldwide, President Emomali Rahmon announced on December 28 in his address to Parliament.

He noted that the country improved its position by six places compared to the previous ranking. The most recent road quality assessment, mentioned by the President, was conducted in 2022 (this ranking is compiled every three years).

In the post-Soviet space, only Azerbaijan (34th), Estonia (38th), and Lithuania (40th) rank higher.
Russia is 104th, Kazakhstan 106th, Kyrgyzstan 117th, Afghanistan 143rd, Uzbekistan 144th, and Turkmenistan is absent from the list.

The top-rated roads are in Singapore, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, while the worst are in Suriname, Belize, and Barbados.

The president highlighted that in 2024, 155 kilometers of roads, 20 bridges, and 3 tunnels were constructed and reconstructed in Tajikistan at a total cost of $460 million.  Entrepreneurs contributed significantly to the road infrastructure development, financing the construction of more than 2,000 kilometers of roads.
