President Emomali Rahmon signed a decree declaring 2025-2030 the "Years of Digital Economy and Innovation Development."

The Tajik president’s official website says the government has been instructed to develop and submit an action plan for implementing this initiative within a month.

In his address to a joint meeting of both chambers of parliament, the president stated on December 28 that this period is intended to accelerate the country's digitalization and strengthen its position in the global technological environment.

Key directions include:

·         Developing a regulatory framework for digital economy growth and innovation regulation.

·         Introducing 5G technologies to enhance data transfer speeds and improve digital services.

·         Digitalizing public services to simplify access and increase transparency.

·         Promoting artificial intelligence and integrating it into the economy and governance.

·         Ensuring cybersecurity, data protection, and mitigating digital threats.

·         Developing digital entrepreneurship and e-commerce, stimulating innovation, and creating jobs in IT.

Additionally, the president emphasized strengthening the training of specialists in digital technologies. He proposed establishing a University of Innovation and Digital Technologies in Kulob, based on the existing Institute of Technology and Innovation Management.  This university will focus on training personnel for the digital economy. Relevant faculties and departments are also to be created in other universities nationwide.

The Ministry of Education, the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies, and other relevant bodies are tasked with preparing legal documents for implementing this program within four months.

"This initiative highlights Tajikistan's commitment to actively developing its digital economy and technological sector, creating new opportunities for innovation and economic growth in the coming years," the Tajik president’s official website states.
