DUSHANBE, January 25, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Following a bomb attack at Moscow''s Domodedovo airport and for the purpose of preventing terrorist acts on the territory of Tajikistan, Tajik Minister of Interiors Abdurahim Qahhorov ordered today to strengthen control over administrative buildings, airports, railroad stations and bus terminals across the country.
Mahmadullo Asadulloyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), says law enforcement authorities will strengthen control over public places as well.
Asked about the results of investigation into the terrorist act attempt in Khujand, Asadulloyev said criminal proceedings had been instituted to investigate the case. “Nobody has been detained to this day,” the spokesman said.
We will recall that according to Tajik law enforcement authorities, two terrorist acts were prevented in Khujand on January 21 as combat engineers defused a bomb in a car and another car packed with explosives was sunk in the Syrdarya River. Two suspect cars were found abandoned outside the buildings of the Sughd police directorate and the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office for Sughd in Khujand Friday night, at around 11:00 pm. Both cars with forged transit number plates were packed with explosives. The combat engineers defused a bomb in Opel left outside the police directorate, but they could not open doors of Volkswagen Passat left outside the SCNS’s office and it was decided to sink the car in the Syrdarya River.
