DUSHANBE, January 31, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Police have seized a large amount of narcotics in Farkhor district, Khatlon province.
The source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) says an operation carried out by police officers Saturday night led to the arrest of the 21-year-old Afghan national Fazilkhan waladi Ahmadgul in th district.
“Three packages containing 32 kilograms of hemp, more than 13 kilograms of raw opium and nearly 12 kilograms of cannabis were confiscated from him,” the source noted, adding that a total weight of the seized narcotics was more than 57 kilograms.
Over the past weekends, police officers intercepted nearly 70 kilograms of narcotics. In all, nearly 400 kilograms of narcotics have been seized by police officers since the beginning of this year.
