DUSHANBE, May 30, 2011, Asia-Plus - A female drug peddler who ingested drugs was detained at the Dushanbe airport on May 29, according to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) press office.
“The 24-year-old resident of Roudaki district was detained during the inspection of passengers on the Dushanbe-St. Petersburg flight,” said the source, “The peddler had ingested 52 wraps of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing nearly 500 grams.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against her under the provisions of three articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 200 (3) – trafficking in narcotics and psychotropic substances; Article 32 (3) – criminal attempt; and Article 289 – smuggling. An investigation is under way.
