DUSHANBE, March 18, 2016, Asia-Plus – 4,600 crimes have been reported in Tajikistan over the first two months of this year, which is 3.6 percent more than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

There were 1,300 serious crimes reported in the country over the same two-month period, which is 2.5 percent more than in January-February last year.

Compared to January-February 2015 there was a 26.73 percent increase in the number of reported cases of robbery.

The number of cases of deliberate infliction of serious bodily injury reported over the first two months of this year increased 1.8 times compared January-February 2015.

The number of thefts reported increased by 21.4 percent.

Meanwhile, the number of murders and murder attempts reported over the first two months of this year decreased by 16.7 percent compared January-February 2015.

The number of frauds during the report period decreased increased by 1.9 percent and the number of bribery reportedly decreased by 18.3 percent.

The number of hooliganism decreased 13.3 percent and the number of reported crimes involving the manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, and use of drugs also decreased by 12 percent.

At the same time, 534 economic crimes were reported in January-February 2016 (a 3.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year).

Over the first two months of this year, there were 60 reported cases of violation of highway safety rules that entailed serious bodily injury and death of the victims.
