DUSHANBE, June 23, 2016, Asia-Plus -- German prosecutors say they have arrested a 30-year-old Tajik man who is suspected of joining the Islamic State extremist group in Syria, according to Associated Press (AP).
Prosecutors said in a statement Wednesday that Muhammadsaid S., whose full name wasn''t given in line with German privacy rules, was arrested in the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
He was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of membership in a foreign terrorist organization.
Muhammadsaid S. is accused of traveling from Tajikistan to Syria in April 2015, where prosecutors said he joined IS.
In addition to fighting, he is also alleged to have appeared in videos urging his countrymen to join him.
Prosecutors say he left Syria no later than the beginning of September, 2015, and then ended up in Germany.
No further details were provided.
